I’ve taken a short (long) hiatus. It felt good not to have an underlying responsibility to a website, but I feel liek I ought to – it’s fun.
Did you know that the Berserks were a group of Vikings who would go into battle naked? It explains the word origin. I wonder who went trawling through a history book looking for people to be made into terms.
Being made into terms – is that a word? Termify? Termitize? Etymonize? Get to work on that, Linguists.

Ow, My Back. My back really hurts. I’ve been hunched over a tripod for the last hour. Oh well. I was recently looking at a Cyrillic alphabet, and was amazed at how different it was from Greek. I know that sounds weird, but bear with me. Many of the letters: π = p, p = r, ∂ = d, etc. make sense, once you get used to them. But in Cyrillic it’s all crazy. Luckily I’m learning Greek not Cyrillic. Another thing… Aristophanes is really good. Read ‘The Clouds’.

Procrastination stinks. Did you know that fraternity and sorority are directly from frater and soror, brother and sister in Latin? Also, i.e. and e.g. are not the same thing. That could come in handy later.

- Hooks. In any popular song, there is a hook. Either a lyrical hook or a musical one. Many songs are really bad, but have great hooks, so people listen to them over and over and over. A song composed entirely of hooks is called hip-hop. Each section, by itself, is addictive, but when put together, it becomes mind-numbing. The rest of the song is supposed to be made of chords, people. Not other drum beats.
- Greek. I am learning Greek. or ηλλενικα. Declensions are the easiest. Vocab, on the other hand, is hard. Kinda the opposite of Latin.
