Once a year. Once a year everything pile …

March 11, 2008

Once a year. Once a year everything piles up at once and… I don’t get stressed. Not stressed, but rather entertained. In the face of a whirlwind one doesn’t grasp the danger and run away, but rather stand, smirking, transfixed by the natural wonder… Even a dangerous one. That’s why I call it my Spring Spiral. Guess when it is.

They Might Be Giants

March 1, 2008

My favorite band. Recently I saw them live in NYC, but even more recently – so recently it hasn’t happened yet – I will have been seeing Gigantic. It is a movie about They Might Be Giants. I use Wiretap Pro – courtesy of MacHeist – to listen to/download TMBG songs off YouTube. It’s really easy. Lots of work this weekend.

The Worthless Blither of a Sickened Chelonite

February 21, 2008

Americans – and in this case, a sick turtle – spend 8-10 hours a day watching television. That’s probably not true. I lied.Or did I? It’s not a lie if I don’t know that it isn’t true. This is the kind of cerebellum-amputating logic that comes from an hourlong mixture of Michel Gondry videos and slight real-world nausea.Michel Gondry – Sure as hell hope I’m spelling that right – is awesome. Have you ever seen the videos he does for Beck? Or the White Stripes, for that matter. All in all, it makes about as much sense as that scene from Pirates 3 where Up is Down and they capsize the only thing stopping them from drowning but due the that damned inevitability clause, they all survive by bursting through to the surface.Great effects, great plot point, awful storytelling. Which reminds me… why is Lost popular again?(Duck and cover)

Sick

February 20, 2008

I am sick. Or, rather, my throat is sick. The rest of me is fine. I feel like I could run a mile (I can’t really) if it weren’t for the hacking cough every few minutes. I bought a book recently. It’s a book on Mythology from DK, and encompasses all kinds of heroes and gods and such. Quite a few stories (Gilgamesh, etc…) had stories of a great flood in them. Which got me thinking…Why doesn’t the book have the Torah/Bible stories in there? Without even questioning their validity, aren’t they just as mythological as Odin or Raven the Trickster god? Because nowhere in the book do they even mention whether or not the stories are real, and nowhere to they mention Christianity w/out the phrase “Before Slovakia was taken over by Christianity, they had a rich mythological heritage” or some such flapdoodle. No, it’s a great book. But it does confuse me so.

Dontcha hate it?

When people don’t keep their promises?Sadists?Sad-ists? (People who enjoy being sad)Listening to a song in private because other people don’t like it? Ignorance.Lack of Empathy.People who never capitalize (me included). People who just won’t tell you something.Hidden information.People who will stop looking just because something is hidden.People who hide things and don’t give them back.People who hide things and forget about them.People who hide things to forget about them.

It’s Alive

October 17, 2007

Somewhere – directly above my head – there is construction. One of the benefits is that this construction will not have to be done at a later date. Actually, that’s the only benefit. The grinder is making BZZZZZing noise, loud and annoying as possible without being illegal. So my ears are buzzing, and my computer is not portable.

On the plus side, I discovered that not everyone knows the history of the umbrella. Using the umbrella in rain is not how it originated. In anchient Eygpt, papyrus was draped over sticks to protect from the sun.

Darn, now they’re hammering.

Umbrellas were used as a shade, and only after the 18th and 19th century and such were they used for water repellent.

Back to drilling.

Darn.

Harry Potter

July 19, 2007

I fear.

Most of us do.

See, the seventh and final Harry Potter book is coming out the 21st… two days. So far a ton of people I know have had full caps spoilers sent to them, and tons more – maybe even me – are going to stay off the web and email. Just until noon on Saturday, when I can happily refute any spoilers with
Yeah, I know!

Today I’m going somewhere peaceful, where you can’t shout out the ending. I’ll be safe for today. We’ll see about tomorrow.

Have you ever wondered about linear and circular time? linear time is what most of us believe. Time runs from one point to the other, disregarding what happened at the beginning or the end. Parts of every culture use circular time. In America, we use a repeating week and month pattern. Everything’s happened before, and it will happen again.

It has been revealed that my computer’s hard drive has crashed and the data corrupted, so right now I’m digging through my archives to see what I have backed up. In other words, complete and utter chaos.

There. I’ve ticked off another box.

Spiral

May 11, 2007

I’m in what I’ve dubbed my “Spring Spiral”. It’s the point in which everything collides. Added to the list:

My laptop has gone crazy. It won’t get past the splash screen stage.
I’m still sick, which is bad because
I’ve missed two days of my regular routine, and have two days of work to make up for.
I’m going to be on a trip that involves a lot of activity – and I’m not sure I’m well.
I have a big responsibility there…
When I get back, I have to take a plane to somewhere else, which is bad because
I might be allergic to the Antihistemenes,
I’m sick,
I’ll be there for three days and miss two more days of my regular routine
Which is two more days of work to catch up on
And I catalog my work on my computer
And my Computer is on the fritz.

, my camera may need to be replaced
I have a ton of work to do
my computer is going to the shop
and life is losing color.

I’ve had to write several poems lately, but none of them worth mentioning. I think I’ll write a new one now.

Raining

It was raining so hard today
though rain is good
i don’t need this much.
i’m sure i’ll differ in a few weeks
when it gets hotter
and i welcome the cold and wet.

Crisis

May 2, 2007

I’m having a bit of a crisis here. Here are the things that are happening.

ARGH!!!!

So I’m writing this from a freind’s computer, which is bad because he’s sick too, and we don’t want to exchange germs.

During this time, I won’t have access to a computer, so I’ll blog just about as often as I can. I can’t blog tomrorrow, but I can blog the rest of the time.
